1- Tell us something about yourself. Describe yourself in three words.
I am a Novelist and Poet from Kolkata. I have authored three books “Walking in the streets of love and destiny”, “The Hidden Letters” and “The Heart Listens to No One”. I live to write and write to live. I am also a blogger and a web content developer. Singing is my cherished hobby.
The three words will be: Dreamer | Optimistic | Free-spirited
2- Tell us about your Poem? How did you get the idea for it? What is it about?
The poems that I have written are “A perfect book for you, Mother”, “Adieu” and “Safe Haven”.
“A perfect book for you, Mother” is about the poet’s wish to write a book on her mother who has passed away.
“Adieu” is about the emotional parting moment when the father has to bid adieu to her daughter after her marriage.
“Safe Haven” is a poem about how every malady seems to disappear when a person is nestled in the arms of his or her mother.
3- Tell us about your Relationship with your Parents? Share an incident from your Life where you felt deep gratitude towards your family.
Till the time my mother was alive, she and I had a very beautiful bond. She was my teacher, my best friend, and my cheerleader. After my mother passed away when I was twelve, my Dad played the role of mom and dad in my life with sheer perfection. Right now, my Dad is my best friend and my confidante. I love talking to him for hours about my projects. We both love to travel a lot and click pictures. My Dad has a wonderful sense of humor, which brightens up my dull days.
I think the day when I told Dad about my vocation, he was extremely supportive. On knowing that I want to write all my life, my Dad encouraged me and told me to chase my dreams. He also told me that if I am confident and focused, I never have to worry about earning a living by doing what I love to do. That was the day I felt deep gratitude towards my Dad.
4- Tell us about your journey as a Writer.
My journey as a writer started after I completed graduation. At that point of time, writing a book was like ticking off a thing on my bucket list. I did not realize my inner calling even when my first book “Walking in the streets of love and destiny” got published in 2012. It was during writing my second book “The Hidden Letters” that I realized I want to write all my life.
Then over the next few years, I contributed my poems and short stories in many anthologies, started blogging regularly and also started working as a freelance content writer. I recently published my first poetry book “The Heart Listens to No One”. So it’s been a very enriching and exciting journey, embellished with both flowers and pebbles.
5- What do you do when you are not writing?
When I am not writing, I am either reading a book or listening to music. I also sing and occasionally upload some of my covers in SoundCloud.
6- Who are your favorite authors/ writers?
Rabindranath Tagore, Paulo Coelho and Elizabeth Gilbert.
7- How do you see yourself five years down the line? What will you be working on next?
Five years down the line, I see myself as a successful and popular author of at least 10 books.
I am going to start working on a new novel from March 2016.
8- How was experience with Sanmati Publishers?
The experience has been wonderful. I am glad to be associated with Sanmati Publishers and now I am so eager to see the book in print.
9- What would be your message to our readers?
Live in the moment. Read. Enjoy. Review.
10- Would you like to share few lines from your Poetry at Purple Hues-2
I am sharing a few lines from my poem “A perfect book for you, Mother”
“Your love, strength and sacrifices
Are vast as an ocean;
The sheets, notebooks, and diaries
Are like glasses and mugs.
I can’t capture you
In a couple of white pages,
But I can preserve you
In my Mind, Heart and Soul.”
It's always a bliss knowing Purba. She is such a talented girl and a great soul. Loved the poem written for her mother. May God bless her and shower more and more success to her. :) <3
