Purple Hues -2 An Interview with Nisha Raju

1- Tell us something about yourself. Describe yourself in three words.

A 19year old, who loves writing. Being a foodie, I love exploring new cuisines and restaurants. Also, I’m a wanderlust. I love Indian history and mythology. I have been a part of numerous Anthologies. Also, I have been penning down articles for various magazines.

Writing essays, short stories, etc have always been my hobbies, but writing poems is my passion.I have been winning prizes & medals in various elocutions, debates, essays, extempores, quizzes, creative writing, etc. I have won prizes in Science Projects & presentations as well. Also, I have been serving people as a member of Rotaract club of Thane Downtown.

Summing up in 3 words, “Simple, Ambitious, Fun-loving”

2- Tell us about your Poem? How did you get the idea for it? What is it about?

This poem depicts the beautiful relation between Parents and Children. It shows the selfless behavior of our parents towards us. The way we are life-long debtors of our parents. It also conveys the message that ‘We might have numerous responsibilities, but we being their children, it is our duty to take care of them, protect them and be with them during their ups and downs’. When we see our surroundings, even a tiny flower is taken care by its parents, i.e. The roots, leaves, stems, etc. And that’s when the idea of writing this poem, struck my mind.

3- Tell us about your Relationship with your Parents? Share an incident from your Life where you felt deep gratitude towards your family.

You don’t need an incident to feel your gratitude towards them. It is something which is felt from the very beginning of our life. One of the greatest blessing in this world is to have mom and dad. And I’m thankful to god to be bestowed with such loving, caring and supportive parents. I might have failed in many things, but something I’ll be proud till the end of my life is to have such a brilliant mom and dad.

Behind every great Daughter is a truly amazing Dad. And I believe in love at first sight since I opened my eyes and saw my mom.

4- Tell us about your journey as a Writer.

Since the young age, I’ve been writing essays. Elocutions, debates, extempore, story-telling, etc have always been my forte. Winning prizes in these is the first motivation towards becoming a writer.

Secondly, it is my family, who have always encouraged me & guided me through every thick and thin. They have supported me, no matter what I do. And that’s the reason I always say, ‘when your parents support you through every phase of your life, it is your duty to reciprocate the same love and care. Always respect them and the values they’ve given you.’ So it is all because of them that I’ve reached this position.

5- What do you do when you are not writing?

When I’m not writing, I go and have a look at my engineering books... jokes apart! I do some photography when I’m not writing & also do some social service as a part of Rotaract Club.

Being a technical student, also, programming is in my hobby list. Bharatnatyam (classical dance form) is also something which eliminates my boredom. Also reading novels, little bit painting is a part of my hobby bucket.

6- Who are your favorite authors/ writers?

I love Paulo Coelho. I was actually suggested by one of my friends, to read his book ‘Alchemist’, and believe me, it mesmerized every part of my soul, and that’s when I started following him and his books. Apart from it, I truly love Indian mythology from the core of my heart, which undoubtedly makes me follow Devdutt Pattanaik and Amish Tripathi. Also, I like reading Agatha Christie, Ian Fleming, Jeffrey Archer, Khaled Hosseini, Nicholas Sparks, Ruskin Bond, Stephen Crane, William Blake, Khalil Gibran, Sudha Murthy, Jhumpa Lahiri, Preeti Shenoy, etc and so many that the list is never ending.

7- How do you see Yourself five years down the line? What will you be working on next?

On educational line, I aim to pursue MBA from some reputed institute. Later Ph.D. is also in my goal list.

Taking writing into consideration, I want to launch a book of poetry, which would spread good values and morals amongst people. I aim at bringing a change in the society through my book.

8- How was experience with Sanmati Publishers?

Being my first acquaintance with Sanmati Publishers, my experience with them was too good. They’ve managed everything precisely & punctually. Also, their support for all the writers was incredible. Looking forward to working with them many more times in the near future.

9- What would be your message to our readers?

Parents are no less than God. They sacrifice their everything for you. You follow your dreams, achieve your goals, but never disrespect them. They are the foundation of our building. And always remember, never ever compromise with your values and morals. Always be optimistic.Follow your dreams and fulfill your ambitions.

10- Would you like to share few lines from your Poetry at Purple Hues-2
