Purple Hues - 2 An Interview with Shwetha Bhat

1- Tell us something about yourself. Describe yourself in three words.

I'm a 21-year-old bookaholic. I have been in love with words for as long as I can remember. Somewhere along the path, I gave writing a chance and it became the biggest passion of my life.

I'd describe myself as optimistic, straightforward and friendly.

2- Tell us about your Poem? How did you get the idea for it? What is it about?

The poems I submitted for the anthology were all about a parent's love for their children. And how a child mirrors the love it receives from its parents. The brilliant prompt provided by the publishers inspired the poems.

3- Tell us about your Relationship with your Parents? Share an incident from your Life where you felt deep gratitude towards your family.

I have a sweet relationship with both my parents. My father is the only person I look up to, and he inspires me to be a better person every day.
My mother is the sweetest person I know. She has taught me love, patience, and forgiveness. She is my first best friend in the world.

I can recall a story from when I was not more than five years old and had had an accident. My foot was hurt and I had had stitches. My parents would carry me everywhere, and wouldn't let me walk. I got so used to it that even after the bandage was taken off, I insisted on being carried around. And my parents obliged without complaining. Ever since I've known I'm lucky; not just for being a single child but for being the loved child of these two amazing people.

4- Tell us about your journey as a Writer.

I started writing when I was thirteen. There was a poem writing competition held at my school and I bagged the third place. That led me to believe that I was gifted, and I started writing short stories. And I've been dreaming of getting my works published ever since. Years later, now, my dream has finally come true, thanks to you all.

5- What do you do when you are not writing?

When I'm not writing, I'm either reading. There isn't anything that keeps me as occupied as words do. Other than that, I spend a great deal of time with my dog, Lucky.

6- Who are your favorite authors/ writers?

J. K. Rowling, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Ruskin Bond, Suzzanne Collins, John Green, Sarah Dessen, to name a few.

7- How do you see Yourself five years down the line? What will you be working on next?

I see myself as a successful doctor and a writer. A rare combination.
My next published work will, hopefully, be the novel which I'm working on right now.

8- How was experience with Sanmati Publishers?

It was truly amazing! You're a bunch of driven people who have given me the opportunity of my dreams, for which I shall forever be grateful to the team.

9- What would be your message to our readers?
I just want everyone to know that reading is a healthy habit and the more you nurture it, the more you grow as a person. So keep reading.

10- Would you like to share few lines from your Poetry at Purple Hues-2

"...I remember what you told me before you left,
Of how the moon was now split into two; yours and mine,
And I wish I could tell you, I wish you'd somehow know,

That I'd give up my side of the moon, to be with you again."
