PURPLE HUES -2 An Interview with Rajni Sinha

1-          Tell us something about yourself. Describe yourself in three words.

Well, I had always wanted to be a writer.I used to write for school and college magazines and my works were nearly always accepted. This instilled the desire for becoming a" proper writer " I wrote for a contest in Femina and won the first prize --after that I wrote a slogan for Home TV and won a prize again all this gave me a lot of encouragement and then I was introduced to the world of blogging by my husband ---and the appreciative comments received by my posts were a very big encouragement and this is how I got the courage to send my works for publication .     The three words I would use to describe myself would be, lively, dedicated  and, of course, a      writer

2- Tell us about your Poem? How did you get the idea for it? What is it about?
My writings especially poems almost always deal with the contemporary social set up and my poems for this anthology to deal with what is happening in society. As  this Anthology is about parent-child relationships the poems here deal with  conversations between parents and children and how they discuss the problems rampant  in  society viz safety of the girl child, the abuse of nature and the effect it will have on our future.

3- Tell us about your Relationship with your Parents? Share an incident from your Life where you felt deep gratitude towards your family.

My relationship with my parents was always a very affectionate  one Both my parents doted on me and I tried to fulfill all the expectations they had  from me. An incident where I felt gratitude for them would be the fact that they never tried to impose their whims and fancies on me and They always let me pursue my dreams they never tried to put restrictions on my dreams and ambitions

4- Tell us about your  journey as a Writer.
When in school I participated in a writing contest organised by Philips in collaboration with a local Book Shop the topic was " What is better Radio or Books " and I won a consolation prize in the contest  after this  I began  writing for  my school and college magazines    Then I again won a prize for my letter on Women's Reservation policy in the women's magazine FEMINA  and a prize in a slogan writing contest for Home TV this was great encouragement which led me to take to blogging and to writing for various newspapers and books

I have had my works published in many Anthologies by
Sanmati Publishers  ( both Hindi and English )
Numerique Publishers,
Authors  Ink publishers,
 Cypher Literary Agency,
 Authors Pride Publishers,
 Immortal Doon publications
Propel steps publications
Ink  lovers Publications (both Hindi and English ) etc

In addition, to this, I have also had one of my poems read on online radio stations and it can be heard on youtube --https://youtu.be/ajxyoP30-II

5- What do you do when you are not writing?
What do I  do when I am not writing !!!---well I have a house to keep , and  a family to look after . and that is multitasking

6- Who are your favorite authors/ writers?
My favourite authors belong to the older generation I have always been an avid reader of both Hindi and English books  and my favourite authors have been many
Munshi Prem chand , Bhishma Sahni, Agyey, Mahadevi Verma, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan Dharamveer Bharti Manu Bhandari etc in Hindi and Charles Dickens,  Shakespeare, Bernard Shaw  Jane Austin, Agatha Christie Jeffry Archer, Arther Haily , Richard Gordon P.G.Wodehouse Wordsworth, Tennyson, etc in English

7- How do you see Yourself five years down the line? What will you be working on next?
Well, writing has always been my passion , and I am thinking of writing a novel which will b e-based  ghost stories I  have a plot ready and will go ahead with it in due course . I also want to get a collection of my poems published.

8- How was my experience with Sanmati Publishers?

My experience with Sanmati publishers has been very very cordial In fact they were the first people I contacted as a writer. I have had many of my works published by them stories and articles in Aagaman( Hindi and English both)   , poems in Kastoori Kanchan, , stories in Once Upon a Time , and Sirf tum when still at it I would like to thank Shri Pawan Jain Ji for all the help and encouragement he has provided me and to other aspiring writers too. Sanmati  is a boon for us writers

9- What would be your message to our readers?

.My message to readers ..I write to give vent to my feelings and to spread into society what I think about the present day scenario I know it is not possible for me to bring about a change because I am not a great personality whose works have a fan following but, I feel that the written word has a lot of power and so even if ever a person will even accidentally lay his eyes on maybe even a torn piece of my writing and if it will make him ponder then it will be a mission accomplished . The corruption rampant in society is so disgusting .and by corruption I don't mean bribes what I mean is the corruption of the mind which has led us to this degenerated situation.

10- Would you like to share few lines from your Poetry at Purple Hues-2

"Bye, mama ! don't you worry
I'll heed to your advice

And go through the roads, with those neon lights.

There will be no darkness and no four legged beast

But what !! if some animal comes in the garb of a priest'?"

1- You are a proud contributing Author of Purple Hues-3, India's favorite Anthology. What is your story/ poem about? Is it related to your own life or someone you know? First of all, I want to express my gratitude that I got an opportunity to write for this anthology. Well, that was the most valuable e-mail to me from you Nikita! Writing poems is a soul song to me. I do not read many books to write. My writing is all about the people whom I have met and the impacts they left. Literally, there are stories from different people and my observations about them.My musings, quotes, poetry, songs reflect the beauty of raw, void, incomplete emotions. My poem, " The Man Like You " is about an imaginary man who feels the depth of the woman, who wants to fulfill her dreams which are already turned to ashes, who encourages that woman to make her own identity.
